Ready to Ride: The Value of Cycling Education in Schools

Sep 22, 2026 at 4 p.m. EDT

Webinar via Zoom

Cycling education in schools is key to ensuring every child has the tools to understand safe cycling and build the confidence to go by bike. This webinar brings together Ben Rollenhagen, the primary curriculum developer of the League’s Ready to Ride K-5 curriculum; Jermar Rountree, the Athletic Director of Center City Public Charter - Brightwood Campus in Washington D.C.; and Alison Dewey, the League’s Education Director.

In this session, we’ll dive into the forthcoming Ready to Ride curriculum as it heads into beta testing. You’ll also hear from Rountree about what that education actually looks like in school and why it matters, drawing on his 10+ years teaching cycling education and expertise as 2023 D.C. Teacher of the Year.

Whether you teach cycling education or advocate for it, this webinar offers an update on Ready to Ride and a firsthand look at what this work can do in schools.
